Even though I have been an animal lover all my life, I knew nothing about elephants when I decided to volunteer at a Thai elephant sanctuary. After being around these majestic animals for a couple of weeks, I was hooked.

I learned a lot about elephants, but I also experienced first-hand how hard the life of wild elephants is whilst we slept in the forest and heard farmers throw fireworks at elephants to protect their crops. The conflicts between wild elephants and humans are growing as their habitat is getting smaller and smaller. Because of these conflicts, wild elephant populations in Asia and Africa are declining and they need our help.

Bring the Elephant Home (BTEH) is an amazing organization that I have been supporting for years. They protect both elephants and farmers by making sure they can live in harmony with each other. You can read more about their important work on their website.

Will you help protecting wild elephants in Africa?

I got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help BTEH with setting up a field station in Kruger Park, South Africa. With this field station we aim to facilitate important research and conservation activities. We will conduct research on elephants and help local communities to make sure they are less affected by elephants. If local communities profit from wild elephants (by making money from tourism) and are less affected by them, conflicts will greatly reduce.

Setting up this important field station will cost money. We need educational material, building material, research material and transportation. Will you help me fulfill my dream to protect wild elephants?

Every donation will help making this project a success. Thanks for your help! Nadine
