We’re excited to announce our fundraiser for a groundbreaking study by our PhD researcher Brooke Friswold. This research will explore the positive impacts of habitat expansion on elephant well-being at Kariega Game Reserve, South Africa.
About This Project
This study aims to investigate how removing interior fences affects elephant movement, behavior, and health. Using GPS tracking, behavioral observations, dung sampling, and other methods, we hope to demonstrate the benefits of habitat connectivity for elephants, contributing to more effective conservation strategies.
Why It Matters:
- Protecting Elephants: African elephants are keystone species vital for biodiversity and ecosystems health.
- Informing Conservation: Our findings will help improve management practices and conservation strategies for elephants in fenced reserves.
- Supporting Communities: Improved elephants welfare can enhance wildlife tourism, benefiting local communities.
How You Can Help:
We need your support to cover essential expenses such as researcher travel, elephant collar maintenance, dung sampling analysis, and fieldwork supplies. Every dollar brings us closer to our $3,758 goal.
